Pr. Systems Engineer - Air Traffic Management Concepts | Raytheon | Hampton, VA
Job Description:
The Raytheon Information Solution (RIS) Research Computing and Advanced
Engineering department located in Hampton, VA, provides research support
and engineering services for various NASA Aeronautics and Space
programs. The department is responsible for the development and
maintenance of the NASA Langley Airspace and Traffic Operations
Simulation (ATOS) research system, one of the largest distributed
simulation systems in the world. The ATOS system consists of multiple
workstation-based aircraft simulators networked together. Under the
auspices of the Joint Planning Development Office (JPDO) Next Generation
Air Transportation System (NextGen) initiative, NASA uses ATOS to
conduct research into the feasibility of advanced Air Traffic Management
(ATM) concepts.
Conduct and lead research projects in the development of advanced
NextGen concepts. Be responsible for supporting NASA with the
development of ATM Concept of Operations, algorithms, models, the design
of fast-time and real-time experiments, and experiment data analysis to
assess the benefits of different concepts. M ay also develop software
to support the development of research prototypes that are used in
fast-time and real-time simulations. Join a lean process, fast paced
research environment and will participate to the definition and design
of the NextGen system.
Required Skills:
- BS degree in a technical discipline (or equivalent experience) with
8-10 years relevant experience
- Experience with Air Traffic Management related research or system
engineering such as advanced ATM concept development, benefits and
systems analyses, procedure development, field research, or automation
design and development is strongly preferred,
- Software development experience in Modeling & Simulation, or Air
Traffic Management related system
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the
ability to clearly write technical documents and papers, and present
research results at public conferences
Desired Skills:
- Aerospace Engineering background
- Matlab
- C++
- Understanding of the NASA environment, experience working with NASA
- Experience with JPDO NextGen ConOps and Architecture
- Pilot and/or Controller experience
